What’s on My Hooks & Needles Now

Like most crafters, I usually have a few projects going on at the same time; however, I am pretty good at getting them all done eventually and not having too many UFOs (unfinished objects) going on at the same time. If I do set down a project for a long time (like the cute hat I still have not finished or the purse that needs a handle), it is because I have some major road block and need a chunk of time to figure out how to either fix it or succumb to frogging it.

Right now I have three yarn projects in the works. Two are donation items, and one is actually for myself (for a change).

This baby hat pattern is from Crochet Geek. It is a super easy project because once you get the first few rows done, the rest is all single crochet, around and around and around, until you get the length you want for the hat. It is a good no-brainer late night watching TV type project. This will be going to Healthy Start.

This is my third time making the above pattern, Rainbow Ripple, and this time I am making it with slightly thicker yarn. I am using two shades of pink Vanna Baby yarn. This is not a really hard pattern, but you do kind of have to pay attention. As it gets larger, you add more stitches (mainly double crochet), so you need to keep track as you work your way around the star. I am also using a K hook, larger then previously used for this, so hopefully between the thick yarn and large hook, I will finish this fairly soon. This is also for Healthy Start.

Then finally for me, I am still working on the purple scarf I mentioned recently. I am pleased to say that I am half way done, and now I need to just attach another skein of yarn and keep going. This will look great with the Asia yarn hat I made. I am much, much slower at knitting than crochet, so it is hard to say if I will get this done before the cold weather in Florida ends.

Welcome to the Crafty Princess Diaries, my weblog and site where I get to blab about my passion for crafts, primarily jewelry making, and my crafting career. My name is Tammy Powley, and I decided to call my blog the Crafty Princess Diaries because of this very dorky picture I have of myself and because my husband often refers to me as “the princess and the pea,” which is just another way to say that I tend to be particular sometimes. Along with this weblog, I have a number of jewelry making books published.
