The doll doctor is in, or at least, I give it a shot when I attempt to replace the scalp on two Blythe dolls.

I haven’t been in front of the camera for awhile. In fact, it’s been months since I’ve filled what I call a Crafts and Dollies episode. But, school is starting up full-time for me, and I wanted to share all my crafting and doll collecting fun with you. Get a cup of your favorite beverage, maybe a project to craft on too, as I get a little chatty in this latest video.

Thank you to Marie Kondo for helping me get my act together and get my sewing space cleaned up and organized. Next, I have to tackle my jewelry making supplies. But, you can see some of what I’ve accomplished in this short video.

I have started to enjoy hunting for costumized dolls that have issues and need some fixing up. I don’t have the customizing chops to do a doll from scratch, but I am learning bit by bit to do little things like switch out a doll scalp or body. Here’s an unboxing of one of my latest dolls that needs some doll doctor love.

With all the celebrating related to the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 space mission, I have become nostalgic lately. I grew up on the Space Coast and was about five years old when Apollo 11 launched. I have a few academic articles, now probably a little dated since I wrote them back in 2009 and 2010, but I thought I’d blow off the dust and share them. (I own the copyrights.) One was published in a collection of essays, Florida in the Popular Imagination: Essays on the Cultural Landscape of the Sunshine State, and the other was a presentation I gave (very closely related to the article, so there is a lot of crossover between the two pieces) for the Florida College of English Association Conference held in Winter Park that year.
