Etsy Promotion Ideas

Blogged under etsy by Tammy on Thursday 16 October 2008 at 6:08 am

Though I have woefully been neglecting my Etsy shop due to lack of time due to grading papers out the ying yang lately, amazingly enough I still have made an occasional sale over there.

This makes me wonder how successful I could be if I actually had time to rotate inventory, network with my fellow Etsians more, and generally give it the attention it deserves. No business will flourish left unattended and unmanaged, but while it doesn’t take a lot of cash to get an Etsy shop going or keep it going, it does take time. That is mainly what blogger the Autonomous Artisans explain in an excellent post about Promotion on a Budget. Though most of the ideas presented in the post connect up with the idea of owning an Etsy shop, really anyone who has a web business or even an off-line business can find some interesting and cheap (as far as money) ideas to consider. It’s definitely worth a read.

Thanks, Chris. I’ve seen that site & put my Etsy URL in there, though I don’t think I’m that clear about what it is all about.

The two primary purposes would be SEO (search engine optimization) and increased exposure to other etsy sellers (etsy sellers make up a large portion of etsy buyers).

Any link pointing in to your site from another site will increase your search engine rankings (even this link from your blog to my site shows up in my reports). Of course with my promotion tool this is much more effective with the username/description fields filled out, but any crawl-able link still helps.
