Welcome to the Crafty Princess Diaries, my weblog and site where I get to blab about my passion for crafts, primarily jewelry making, and my crafting career. My name is Tammy Powley, and I decided to call my blog the Crafty Princess Diaries because of this very dorky picture I have of myself and because my husband often refers to me as “the princess and the pea,” which is just another way to say that I tend to particular sometimes.

In the real world, I work as an Assistant Professor of English. Mainly I teach writing and literature classes. However, for many years, I have also worked as a professional crafter. For about the first eight years, I sold my jewelry through art and craft show circuits in central and south Florida as well as small galleries and boutiques. Today, I sell my artwork primarily through special commissions and concentrate more on writing and consulting.

Along with this weblog, I write and maintain the About.com Jewelry Making site, and I have a number of jewelry making books published.

Stop by the Crafty Princess Etsy Shop where I sell supplies and related goodies to help you get crafty!

    Hi Tammy,
Are you the Tammy Powley who wrote a dissertation entitled “Memory-Craft: The Role of Domestic Technology in Women’s Journals”? I’m a librarian in California and am trying to track down a copy.
    Many thanks!

    Hi Patricia,
I’ve passed your request onto some jewelry folks I know. Some other sources might be to check Etsy.com and http://www.jewelrythings.com/, which has a lot of vintage components.

    Hi Tammy,

We are looking for someone to write blog articles for Jewelry Crossings, an online jewelry site. We know that you are saying goodbye to the blogging world, but do you have any recommendations for someone who could help us get out in the jewelry blogging world? Our site is http://www.jewelrycrossings.com and we are anxious for more web exposure.

    Best of luck to you!

    Hi Tammy,
I am a new jewelry designer. It is my passion in life. I enjoy reading your blogs about jewelry and designers. Will you please consider writing about me?
    Best regards,
    Cindalena

Cindalena - I’m guessing you found a blog I used to write called the Jewelry Weblog; however, I no longer work for Creative Weblogging who runs it. You may want to contact the latest editor over there.
