While I know that this holiday weekend (in the States) was not created for crafters, and I do hope we all remember and appreciate the reason we have a Memorial Day holiday in the first place, I also wish that everyone is able to carve out a little craft time this weekend. It is surprising how difficult this can be to manage even when you do this for part of your living!
So far my craft weekend is going pretty well. I’m working on a new necklace tutorial which I’ll have posted tomorrow for my About.com site. I’m using some ceramic components from Earthenwood Studio’s SteAm Stones collection. Hopefully, Melanie will not be disappointed with my efforts. It’s funny how I always feel a little extra added pressure when I use components created by an artist I have some kind of personal connection with. I had a few bumps in the jewelry designing road earlier today, but I’m well on my way to finishing the piece. I’m giving my fingers a little break – typing rather than wire wrapping – because this baby has lots of wrapping going on. Without giving away the whole design enchilada, I’ll give one hint – wire wrapped beads.
Other than making jewelry and working on my About.com site, writing up the tutorial don’t ya know, I’ve managed to get a little reading in today, and I’m close to finishing a wonderful biography, Jane Austen: A Life. You would think that someone like myself who writes and has multiple degrees (in English no less) would be a lightening fast reader, but totally the opposite is true. I read tortuously slow; I would be embarrassed to admit to how long it’s taken me to read this book! But, now that I’m about 30 pages away from the end, I am already concerned that it’s ending too soon.
I hope I’m not the only one crafting this weekend (and reading and relaxing and thinking).

Crazy Tammy! I just made some links like this last night! I really love how the wrapping along the bead adds so much interest to the chain.

How funny! Yes, it takes a while to do all that wrapping, but it’s totally worth the effort when you are done.
