Tammy Powley’s Crafty Weblog

Crafty Princess Diaries Gets a Facelift!

If you just stopped by today, then you are probably as surprised as I was when I cruised over to my weblog to post a blog entry for the day. We are in the middle of final exams now at school, so I’ve been knee-deep in Oedipus Rex papers and WebCT crap-o-la. I literally have been grading papers on and off since I got up at 6:30 this morning, so that meant no time for my precious weblog. Finally, I decided to put school work aside for the evening and post, and voila! My new template is up and looking fantastic thanks to my crack team of technical consultants, aka my BIL.

You’ll see that I’ve sold out and have some ads now, both to my books (yeah!) and some misc. google ads as well as my Etsy shop. Yup, the dough will just be rolling in now! Seriously, I started this blog to have a place where I could promote my writing andy any other craft “work,” but it’s also nice to have a place that is “mine,” ya know? Hopefully, a little ad money (and anyone who is an indie blogger and has ads like these know “little” is the optimum word here) will cover some of my weblog and other business expenses. I’m not a greedy princess; I swear!

I hope you like the new template as much as I do, and even if you don’t, feel free to lie to me and tell me you do!

Welcome to the Crafty Princess Diaries, my weblog and site where I get to blab about my passion for crafts, primarily jewelry making, and my crafting career. My name is Tammy Powley, and I decided to call my blog the Crafty Princess Diaries because of this very dorky picture I have of myself and because my husband often refers to me as β€œthe princess and the pea,” which is just another way to say that I tend to be particular sometimes. Along with this weblog, I have a number of jewelry making books published.

  1. Looks great Tammy!!! I like the side columns with all the good stuff! πŸ™‚

  2. love this!!! it is perfect !!! jean xox

  3. Thank you Candie and Jean. I really wanted to show off the books. Scroll down and you’ll see some familiar ones from other folks too.

  4. I LOVE the new look! I’m getting some differences between IE and Firefox though. It looks perfect in IE. In Firefox there is no white background at all, it’s just the grey gradient directly behind the text. It still looks great, with the small exception of the few lines of text that are right over the dark grey band at the top. Also, the latest post doesn’t show up at the top of the page…it’s shifted down, so you have to scroll to the bottom of your sidebars to see it. It’s still in the center where it should be, just down, if that makes any sense. Of course, I’m clueless when it comes to troubleshooting stuff like that, but I thought you’d like to know. Good work!

  5. Love it Tammy very sweet and clean looking, great job!

  6. Thanks Dan, yes, I know foxfire doesn’t like the new template. I hope to get that fixed at some point, but since IE is still more popular, I’m okay with it for now. I use foxfire on and off for stuff, but there are things I like about it (like spell check) and don’t like about it (like downloading files).

  7. Thanks Aileen, I was hoping for something fairly clean, so I’m glad you mentioned that!

  8. Looks good, although it doesn’t render properly in Firefox – the body of the post doesn’t begin until under the ad bars, which is well “below the fold” – on first glance, it looks like your site is nothing but ads. It appears to be caused by some invalid markup; your BIL may want to check the output at this site for details.

  9. love the new layout, Tammy, but as others have mentioned it does NOT play nicely w/Firefox (I think FF is a lot more popular than you think it is! ) but that’s okay, b/c TAG, you’re it! πŸ˜‰

  10. Hey Tammy,

it looks grrrreat! Really. I love the new look. But Safari doesn’t like it either. Posts don’t show up until after the left hand link list.

    Otherwise… You Rock! Congratulations.
