Crafting for a Cause

Thank you to Sandy who posted a comment about a charity group she has worked with successfully called Crafting for a Cause. According to her, they are very organized, so you will not feel like you are sending your precious hand-made goods into a black hole. Here is the description from the groups web site explaining its mission and how it works:

We are a group of crafters from around the globe, coming together to help those in need. We use our crafting talents to make afghans, quilts, lapghans, scarves, hats, slippers and much, much more! Our efforts and focus are on the children and elders of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, the newborn unit of the Pine Ridge hospital, Pass Creek Elderly Center on Pine Ridge Reservation, the Pretty Bird Woman House on the Standing Rock Reservation and the children at the UC Davis Pediatric Cancer Infusion Center in Sacramento, California.

Our webstore came about as a way to raise money to buy propane for the families on the Pine Ridge Reservation.   Members donate items to the store and all profits from the store go into the propane fund.  If you think you’d like to join us, stop by and sign up for our yahoo group.  We would love to have you join our cause!

If you know of any similar charity groups that could use some help and know how to say “thank you” or at the very least have a way for you to be sure your items actually make it there, feel free to email me at tammypowley [a] yahoo.com and I will blog about them.

Welcome to the Crafty Princess Diaries, my weblog and site where I get to blab about my passion for crafts, primarily jewelry making, and my crafting career. My name is Tammy Powley, and I decided to call my blog the Crafty Princess Diaries because of this very dorky picture I have of myself and because my husband often refers to me as “the princess and the pea,” which is just another way to say that I tend to be particular sometimes. Along with this weblog, I have a number of jewelry making books published.
