Crochet Becomes LA Fashion Statement!

Breaking News! Crochet is now THE fashion trend of Los Angeles! And we can thank designer, crocheter, and occasional mental patient Pam Douglas for her fashion forward vision to bring crochet bikinis back into the fashion spotlight! Oh, and that last stay at the hospital was a big help since it gave her lots of time to polish her crochet skills and crochet lots of weird hats too!

Yes, I admit it: I’m a Bold and the Beautiful viewer of many years now. It’s not so much that I’m ashamed of watching a soap opera; it’s more the fact that I watch this particular soap because it is probably the worst one on TV! Twenty years ago when I first got sucked in, it was pretty decent, full of fashion shows and glitz and glam. Now, so many years later, I have to wonder if the writers just take the script, cross out characters’ names and replace them with other characters’ names, and hand it to the poor actors who have to play these old storylines over and over again.

At least the crochet storyline is something new, and I’m tickled that they’ve somehow woven crochet into it, even if the designer is a nut job. Played by Ally Mills, Pam makes a crochet bikini for a women she tried to kill at one point by tying her up, pouring honey all over her, and having a bear almost eat her, but that was all because of the brain tumor that was making her crazy. Her crochet bikini is a peace offering that gets the attention of one of the top fashion houses in the world, Forrester Creations! Now, she has got to crochet something like a 1,000 bikinis because they are the rage of the LA fashion world.

Here’s her latest creation modeled by Dr. Bridget Forrester. She’s just topping by this guy’s house on her way to the hospital where she will probably cure cancer.

Welcome to the Crafty Princess Diaries, my weblog and site where I get to blab about my passion for crafts, primarily jewelry making, and my crafting career. My name is Tammy Powley, and I decided to call my blog the Crafty Princess Diaries because of this very dorky picture I have of myself and because my husband often refers to me as β€œthe princess and the pea,” which is just another way to say that I tend to be particular sometimes. Along with this weblog, I have a number of jewelry making books published.

  2. I used to watch Bold and Beautiful so I would have something to talk about with my grandmother! I didn’t even know it was still on.

Don’t be ashamed of watching it though – I mean I read romance novels sometime. We all need a little escape sometimes πŸ˜‰

  3. Hi Connie – I used to be a pretty decent soap, but now the writers just seem to have no imagination left. It’s been on for at least 20 years, and I started watching it early on in I think the late 80s?
