Crochet, Reefs, Math, & Ted.com

Thanks to a post on one of the crochet lists I’m on, I had a chance to view an interesting video about crochet, coral reefs, and math over that TED.com. I’ve actually used other videos over there for classes before. There is good stuff on story telling, narrative, and poetry, but I usually shy away from anything science or math related. However, since this video includes crochet talk, I gave it a shot and did find it pretty interesting, even for a math-phobe like myself.

Unfortunately, TED.com does not have an option for embedded links, so you’ll have to go over there and watch it: Margaret Wertheim: The beautiful math that links coral, crochet and hyperbolic geometry

Welcome to the Crafty Princess Diaries, my weblog and site where I get to blab about my passion for crafts, primarily jewelry making, and my crafting career. My name is Tammy Powley, and I decided to call my blog the Crafty Princess Diaries because of this very dorky picture I have of myself and because my husband often refers to me as “the princess and the pea,” which is just another way to say that I tend to be particular sometimes. Along with this weblog, I have a number of jewelry making books published.
