I just added another sterling silver pendant to my Sterling Charm Sale! page. Like the other charms and pendants you’ll find over there, all of these were cast by my husband and me when we used to take lost waxing classes. That means we had to clean and polish these puppies by hand afterward. It is a lot of work, but you get some amazing detail with this process, so I think it is well worth it.
If you would like to know more about the lost wax casting method, I have a tutorial on my About.com site.
Welcome to the Crafty Princess Diaries, my weblog and site where I get to blab about my passion for crafts, primarily jewelry making, and my crafting career. My name is Tammy Powley, and I decided to call my blog the Crafty Princess Diaries because of this very dorky picture I have of myself and because my husband often refers to me as “the princess and the pea,” which is just another way to say that I tend to be particular sometimes.
Along with this weblog, I have a number of jewelry making books published.

Well, lost wax casting is so easy. Now I know why my first metalsmith teacher didn’t let us do it. It is much easier than fabricating! The trick is that you have to have a lot of equipment, some of which are not cheap. So we took a class at our local rock and gem club as a way to have access to it all.
