Alpaca Slouch Hat Finished!

It is soft and slouchy and I love it! Made from my baby alpaca purchase, this hat is adapted from the Pacific Beach Hat pattern in the Aug/July 2012 Crochet Today magazine. The pattern was designed by Linda Permann. She used a larger hook and different yarn. I ended up having to go down to a size G hook and just used one skein of the baby alpaca, which I was told at the LYS is worsted weight, but honestly, it seems like a thin worsted to me, almost more like sport weight.

This is an intermediate level pattern, so it was a bit of a challenge for me. I stitched and frogged and stitched and frogged and obsessed for three days before I finally got it finished, but it was well worth the effort.

Welcome to the Crafty Princess Diaries, my weblog and site where I get to blab about my passion for crafts, primarily jewelry making, and my crafting career. My name is Tammy Powley, and I decided to call my blog the Crafty Princess Diaries because of this very dorky picture I have of myself and because my husband often refers to me as “the princess and the pea,” which is just another way to say that I tend to be particular sometimes. Along with this weblog, I have a number of jewelry making books published.

  1. I’d like to see it on someone’s head. I bet it is cute!

  2. I’ll try to get one, kinda hard since I can’t just do it myself, but there’s a photo of the pattern I used here to give you some idea of how it fits: http://www.crochettoday.com/crochet-patterns/pacific-beach-cap
