Jewelry Book Give-a-Way

Blogged under Jewelry Designers/Artists,Jewelry Designing by Tammy on Tuesday 26 July 2011 at 7:00 am

Margot Potter, famed jewelry designer, weblogger, TV personality, etc., has another new book out. This one takes a unique and contemporary approach to making bead and wire jewelry. It’s called New Dimensions in Bead and Wire Jewelry: Unexpected Combinations and Unique Designs, and you can read the full book review that I wrote about it over at my Jewelry Making site.

After you read the review, come back and leave a comment answering the following questions: Have you mainly used beading wire just for stringing up beaded jewelry, or have you ever used it in a more 3-D kind of way or any other unique method? If you haven’t, is there a reason you haven’t? If you have, then what did you do that is different than the usual straight bead stringing?

I will have a random drawing for a copy of Margot’s newest book after the deadline for this give-a-way, August 26, 2011. So basically, you have a month to enter. You can post as many times as you like, but I will just put in one entry per name. Make sure you include your email address so that you can be contacted in case you win. Winners will have 72 hours after they are contacted by me via email to reply. After that, I will draw another name if I don’t receive a reply back. This offer is good only in the US or Canada. The winner will receive the book through USPS media postage. Good luck!

I love using beading wire! Not only for jewelry, but I’ve used the colored wire to make daisies for my mother. I’m still trying to come up with new uses 🙂

I have mainly used beading wire for stringing. I haven’t done anything too difficult as I’m a newbie.

I use wire for many reasons, in wrapping beads, displays, highlights on lampshades and frames, as *nests* for my bird figurine collection, etc. It is a great medium!

Wire and beads…my favorite to work with. I have strung beads on wire. I would rather make a framework from wire then wrap beads to get a 3D look to it. I do that a lot for pendants.

I have just gotten into beading, the most I have done is look at wire and research, it looks awesome, and collect supplies. Great give away, would love to have the book

I have crocheted a bead and wire necklace. I also made a number of Christmas tree ornaments using wrapped wire and beads.

I generally use wire as a stringing medium, however, I have in the past knit with 28-32 guage wire and beads to make bracelets.

I have not used beading wire for anything other then stringing however most of my jewelry involved chain and craft wire.

I have mostly used wire for strining on beads of different sizes and shapes to make necklaces and bracelets. Recently I bought some different wire to try knitting a bracelet with beads. I am about to attempt that project tonight – I love how airy those bracelets look for summer.

I am new to wire work, and have only used it so far for stringing, but I hope to do more as I learn more!

At this point, I have only used beading wire to string beads. I’m just not sure what else to do with it.
